our recycled material + sustainability
our recycled material + sustainability
so you know our sunglasses are made from recycled sunglasses, but how, where and why do we do what we do?
how we do it ; we save tonnes of over run, out of use, faulty and wasted frames in china that were destined for landfill. we optimise for the most carbon conservative strategy by collecting these sunglasses close to the source and taking them to our facility where they enter our unique recycling process. the frames are broken down and processed into their raw materials and are then ready to become a pair of szades.
why plastic ; plastic is the problem in the eyewear industry. period. not acetate, not metal frames, not wood... plastic. we don't use bio materials or anything plant based since we don't want harvest the earth's precious natural resources. instead we choose to utilise what's already there, and save it from ending up in landfill for millions of years. recycle your szades and break the cycle with us.
why china ; this is where the root of the problem is. if you want to break the cycle and make a difference, you have to find the source of the problem and start there.
why we're for real ; our factory has been GRS certified. this means the recycling process and material supply chain of your szades have been audited by the Global Recycling Standard, an independent body that is the world standard for recycled materials.
what about the lenses ; our lenses are not recycled, but are crafted of the highest quality tested and rated polycarbonate for the ultimate clarity, structual integrity, robustness and protection. this is of the utmost importance to provide above all, the clearest and safest possible shatter proof protection for your eyes to meet the highest international standards. your safety comes first.
our unique recycled sunglasses aren't just a capsule collection or something that comes with a *limited edition* sticker ; this process is in our szade dna.
certification + transparency
certification + transparency
our factory and material supply chain have been audited at each stage from raw material, to finishing, to ensure that our frames are meeting the global standards for the use of certified and legitimate recycled material, ethical working conditions and transparent business practices. we conduct this audit each year to achieve a GRS certification of the factory, material and process by the Global Recycling Standard.
